Handel House (Händel-Haus)

Halle (Saale) is the birthplace of one of the best-known Baroque composers. The Handel House Museum hosts permanent exhibitions on “Handel – The European” and on historical instruments, including audio samples of his works.

Art Museum Moritzburg (Kunstmuseum Moritzburg

The scope of permanent and special exhibitions ranges from medieval to contemporary art forms. The special emphasis of the museum is on Modernist art.

Beatles Museum 

The permanent exhibition offers a comprehensive genealogy of this great British rock band, and celebrates their music and popularity. It also shows various exhibits that document the individual members’ careers and the ongoing impact and worldwide reception of the Beatles.

Memorial Place (Gedenkstätte) Roter Ochse 

This memorial place, a former prison, documents the penal systems previously applied in the facility, detailing the management of the prison under the Nazi regime, Soviet occupation, and under the GDR regime.

Francke Foundations (Franckesche Stiftungen)

August Hermann Francke, an enlightened pietist philanthropist, initiated a charitable foundation that offered orphans access to education. The Francke Foundations, attached to Halle University, offer insights into their founder’s accomplishments and the legacy of the German Reformation.

City Museum (Christian-Wolff-Haus

Christian Wolff, a proponent of the German Enlightenment, lived in this house during his years as professor for mathematics and philosophy at Halle University. The museum presents several exhibitions on Halle’s past and Wolff’s intellectual impact.
